Animal Emergency Services (AES) was established in 1977 to support local veterinarians with off-hour emergencies. We have offices conveniently located in both Selden and Commack. In 1999 AES became one of the first 24 hour veterinary care facilities on Eastern Long Island. Since that time we have expanded not only our hours but our services as well*.

Our full-time doctors have been working in emergency medicine for over 50 years combined. They are not interns or residents in training, but experienced emergency veterinarians. Their abilities include management of not only emergency cases but critical care patients as well, particularly ones that require round the clock attention not available at most general practices. We work closely with your veterinarian to make decisions together, for the best of the patients as well as their owners.

  • We provide on-site critical care and monitoring, including cardiac monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, and oxygen therapy.
  • We have ultrasound and echocardiographic studies performed on-site, with endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and colonoscopy available as well.
  • We have a state-of-the-art surgical suite, where most emergency surgeries can be performed.

If your pet requires a service that is not available on site, we will work with you and your veterinarian to ensure that your pet can get what it needs in a timely manner. Our mission remains to be a top quality hospital to compliment the services of your family veterinarian. Our goal is an excellent standard of care delivered with compassion. If you find yourself with a severely ill or wounded pet, or your vet is simply unavailable to you, we are your emergency care center.

We care about your pet, and we care about you. * Commack is open 24 hours on weekends, with abbreviated hours on weekdays.
